The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
We're looking for an inspirational leader with personal lived experience to join Pathways Auckland's Peer-lead service, Tupu Ake in Papatoetoe Auckland, as a Peer Team Coach. You will ensure the efficient and effective use of resources for the team while fostering innovation and improvement of service, empowering and inspiring people towards recovery and wellbeing in order to ensure Tupu Ake is the best it can be.
You will provide regular coaching (via yourself or your Senior support team) and be focused on inspiring mutual support to every member of your team to exceed their personal best in everything they do.
This is a full-time role, working Monday - Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm, with after-hours on call duties every 8-10 weeks. Based in Papatoetoe, Auckland.
The Team and Service
Tupu Ake is a rights and values-based peer led service situated in a beautiful 12-bed villa in Papatoetoe, where peers use their own personal lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction challenges and recovery to nurture hope and personal power, inspiring others to move forward with their lives.
You'll be reporting to the Service and Relationship Manager and working with the support of your 3 Senior Peer Support Specialists to lead a great team of 9 Peer Support Specialists, 4 clinicians, a cook Kaimahi, and others who walk alongside guests to achieve their wellbeing goals.

We are interested to hear from experienced peer leaders who have the ability to support and inspire a team and live peer values. As well as having great leadership and people skills, you'll ideally have demonstrated the ability to work well with other services such as DHBs, PHOs, and the wider community and social sector.
Skills and Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako
- Has a working knowledge of the consumer, peer support, lived experience workforce competencies
- Completed Peer Employment or Intentional Peer Support training
- Completed Level 4 certificate in Health and Wellbeing or above
- Preferred but not essential experience and a qualification in health, management or a related discipline
- Clinical experience is welcomed, and the candidate will be able to speak to their lived experience and journey to wellbeing.
- Role model wellbeing and leadership, and support Peer Support Specialists to do the same
- Great networking skills and the ability to develop high performing teams
