Sober, Honest, and Undistilled: Let’s Get Real About Booze

Lotta Dann is a bit of a legend in the sober community. She’s the brains behind Living Sober, an online space where people swap tips, stories, and support about ditching booze. She’s also written a few great books, like The Wine O’Clock Myth and Mrs D Is Going Within. Lotta is also passionate about calling out how alcohol is sold to us through all those “fun and fancy” ads.

Mrs D Goes Without is Lotta’s personal story about breaking up with wine. But it’s more than just a diary of tough days and triumphs. Lotta’s raw honesty and humour feel like you’re having a heart-to-heart with a friend and she doesn’t hold back on calling out how society—and those slick alcohol ads—make drinking seem like a must.

We’ve had this book floating around the office, and everyone’s loved it. It’s funny, heartfelt, and gives you lots to think about. If you’ve read Lotta’s piece on curbing alcohol marketing and you’re curious about living without alcohol, Mrs D Goes Without is definitely worth checking out.
